North Slope gas contains large amounts of propane. Propane can be used for heating, cooking, clothes drying, and generating electricity. This map illustrates how propane can be taken from the pipeline and distributed to 99% of Alaskans by highway, rivers, and coastal barge. Inter-modal containers for hauling and storing propane can be transferred from freight trucks, trains, and barges to local communities.
